ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME IN EVERY CLASS
At Westside Yoga, we believe that yoga is for everyone! Our classes are challenging, and we will encourage you to make the most of your time on the mat, but we will never reprimand you for taking a break when you need it. Our rule is "No judgemnts EVER". Please drop to your knees for childs pose, rest in Down Dog or Mountain Pose, whenever you would like. On the flip side, please know that you can also modify poses and add extra repetitions, if you want to get more out of your practice.
Please register on Mind Body before you come to class. This will secure your spot in our class, and simplify your experience when you arrive. This is not required, but highly recommended. We do accept last minute drop-ins, but only if there is room in the class.
LATE CANCEL AND NO SHOW POLICY
We will not charge you or deduct a class from your account if you miss class or late cancel (w/in 2 hours of class time) unless that class is full. If you sign up for class, but do not show up, and the class is full, you will be charged. For students with class packs, we will apply your class. For unlimited students, we will apply a $12 charge for a late cancel/missed class. Class Pass students will be charged according to Class Pass policies.
Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes before class is scheduled to begin. Bring a yoga mat and a towel, and check in at the front desk when you arrive. Store shoes in the front, and any other items in the back cubbies. Please roll your mat out as early as possible.
Please notify your teacher if you have any injuries that might need accommodation in class. Yoga is a practice for everyone, and even the injured can practice with modification, so please let us know how we can help!
Our goal is to make yoga fun, accessible, and rewarding for everyone! We welcome students ages 12 and up in every class, and offer a special drop-in rate for students in high school and college (must show valid student ID).
CELL PHONES AND SMART WATCHES
"Yoga chitta vritti narodha" is th emain teaching of yoga. It means "yoga is the stilling of the chatter of the mind." For this reason, we ask that you help minimize disruptions to our time together, by setting your cell phones and smart watches to airplane mode when you arrive at the studio. This is for your benefit, so that you may have an uninterrupted practice, as well as the benefits of your fellow students and teacher.
Traditional yoga teaches that we should hydrate before and after our practice, not during. This is for the benefit of the digestive system. Consuming water while building heat in the body interrupts the process of tapas, or building heat in the body. Taking breaks to drink water also disrupts the meditative quality of the practice, and makes it harder to focus the mind, in preparation for meditation.
Yoga teaches that it is important to clear the clutter in our life--an observance known as aparigraha. For this reason, we ask that you store all items in our cubbies (other than your mat and towel) in the front or back of the studio. The cubbies in the front are for shoes and small items, cubbies in the back are for larger items. We also have hooks for you to hang your clothing, if you need to change after class.
We value your feedback! Please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org at any time, with any comments or suggestions you might have.
We are committed to providing excellent yoga experiences for students of all levels! Everyone is welcome in every class at Westside Yoga.
